Abstract
Sir U.N. Brahmachari was a renowned physician-scientist who is most remembered for his discovery of urea stibamine, the ‘wonder drug’ that saved the lives of countless patients suffering from kala-azar, a dreaded disease prevalent in British India. He was a highly decorated scientist, having received numerous accolades from all quarters for his groundbreaking discovery. His life was equally vibrant and ornate, being a leading figure in medical research across India. This article has tried to capture the essence of his life and scientific contributions by intertwining and weaving the two together to paint a picture of the Man and the Scientist. This is a humble tribute, not only by the author but from The Physiological Society of India as a whole.
